another modern batik quilt

Since I showed the picture of my new Accuquilt dies, one of them was a 1 1/2” strip die and I really thought of scrappy fun with that one!

So I had these blue batiks leftover from something else and I just laid them down and cut and figured I’d come up with SOMETHING!

I sewed them all together, if one fabric ran out on the top of on the bottom I just added another strip, then another would run out and I’d add another, until I used it all up!

Then I cut them apart and ironed toward the darkest

Then I got out a small tumbler die and figured 4 strips together would be perfect for a tumbler, so I cut out a bunch of those!

I also had about 1/2yd of this dark blue batik and that determined how many scrappy tumblers I’d cut, which was pretty close, I only had a few left over!

I sewed them together

and into 4s

and then rows

I was able to make this top out of the pieces, I trimmed the sides straight and I had kept a bit of the blue leftover for binding

Here it is, after quilting it, a cute and fun mini quilt sort of, it’s 21” x 22”

I quilted it with curves from corner to corner

What do you do with small quilts like this? maybe a table topper or large pot holder/ hot pad?

I don’t care if it gets dirty or stained! I used scraps and hardly any batting or thread, so it was just fun!! and that would be my 3rd project for the modern batik challenge!
