I have a new pattern listed in my shop!
It’s called All Tied Up
My sample is made with a fabric line from Michael Miller called “Born to sew” I just thought that was adorable and thought of spool blocks right away! The quilt measures 32″ x 32″ and the blocks are 6″, I cut mine with Accuquilt dies except the spools which I only did partly with Accuquilt dies.
I sketched this out in EQ first
Here’s my fabrics before I cut into them 🙂
With only 8 blocks of each kind and the blocks being small, it took no time at all to sew them together.
And I quickly finished the top
Then it sat around for a while because I wanted to something special on the quilt and not just edge to edge stuff.
I ended up doing a custom block design on each of the diamond and spool blocks.
On the blocks I repeated the design for the spool blocks as often as I could, so here it was 2 rows, then I did the diamond blocks and then forwarded the quilt on the frame
I of course did the outer border and inner border at the top first, then all the blocks, then the bottom inner and outer border, but when it came to the sides, I had to un-pin the whole quilt and then take it off the frame and turn it 90 degrees and attach again and then just do the remaining inner and outer borders, which were now going side to side, it got tricky when lining things up and knowing where to start and stop AND that inner border had to perfectly straight- which it was not but close enough so I fudged it a bit 😉
Then I added this fin stripe as the binding!
I hung my quilt up near my long arm (I don’t have much wall space)
I also had a tester for this pattern, here’s Georgia’s version, love the fussy cut houses!!
For the next week I have “All tied up” on sale for $5! so get it now while you can!!
