Another quilt I’ve had waiting to be quilted was this grey version of my “Strawberry Fields” pattern. I had made it with these grey/blue FQs I’ve had for a long time and I found a beige to go with it and 2 other grey fabrics for the center and borders and the last order from Connecting threads, I got 3yds for the backing, I didn’t realize it was going to be SO tight, but I had a nice piece of batting leftover too and it was about 1 inch bigger on the sides, so about half way thru it, I set it to go and the batting WAS getting tighter to the edge but I set it to go and walked away, then happened to walk back a minute or two later because the machine SOUNDED different! to my shock, it had gotten underneath that inch of batting and then dragged it into the quilt and kept going was wasn’t moving and it was just stitching on top of the same spot, so I quickly stopped it and the only way to get it out was to cut into the fabric- I actually thought it was ripped too, but anyways, I couldn’t believe I had done that! I undid all the threads right there and continued quilting it…
I was able to “save” the quilt by cutting off most of the border, so instead of having a nice chunky 4in border it now has a 1 inch border! So it measures 44″ x 52″
Hey, you’ll never know, right??
Here’s the backing!
Oh, I used a grey variegated thread, a Madeira thread that was given to me, I like Signature threads and didn’t know this was to thin, so I had to adjust the tension a LOT, but it’s cute 🙂
So I saved this quilt and it’s fine, not like the UGLY quilt!!
Here’s a clue for Dec 15th
-Brr, it’s cold outside, that’s a snowstorm also know as a …….?”
and it’s Accuquilt friendly
Go to the quilt pattern page
and you can then “search” for the clues
Well that was a scary long arm happening! Good thing you weren’t so far away that you didn’t hear the change in it. Happy Holidays!
I’m glad you were able to save the quilt.
