I started this quilt back in September and thought of FALL colors, it’s made using my “Midnight Stars” pattern.
When I start a scrap quilt, I look at my scrap bins and see which ones are filled and here I wanted to try something different, I have a bin I call “white PRINTS” it’s just those funky prints with a white background and the prints are in any color! then I chose “Black print” also, then brown or dark brown and my constant I used a bright Yellow, but actually didn’t have quite enough so I used another pale yellow, then followed the directions and cut everything out and sewed on these for a while in between projects.
I finished the top and it took me a while to get the backing together because the top was 46″ x 58″
I finally got around to quilting it and I DON’T LIKE IT!! It actually looks ok here as a small picture, but it’s just WILD in person, I think it’s the bright yellow, the white print is just funky and odd.
And then during the quilting part, I got a fabric fold near the edge, ugh!
I don’t really care about the backings, here I used a black print and leftover yellow strip going down the middle.
I still think it deserves to get my “ugly quilt of the year” award! Of course I showed the kids and now Solveig said she’d take it….LOL
-one man’s trash, is another man’s treasure! – I guess….
Here’s a clue for Dec 13th

It’s a FQ and Accuquilt friendly pattern

I truly love all the stars. For some reason, they are quite intriguing. The background, not so much…too busy. But for a quilt to keep in the car for spur of moment stops, it could be well used. If it is well loved, that is all that matters. Thanks for sharing your “Ugly” quilt award winner for 2021. Have a Merry Christmas if I don’t touch base with you between now & then. Thanks for all your ideas, tips & help throughout the year.
thanks, yeah it’s very busy….well I tried and failed, but that’s how you learn, right? I’ll figure out what to do with my white prints in another project.
I like it, but I would probably applique some orange figures (stars, circles, for example) to tie those yellow centers to the rest of it. But it is bright and cheerful and I’m sure it can and will be used. I recognized some of the “whites” as stuff I have in my stash.
no more working on this quilt! I don’t want to see it. LOL. Now my oldest daughter said she wants it….
Gets my vote for ugliest quilt of the year. I can’t see any redeeming qualities, and I love scrap quilts! At lest you won’t have to make the bed for your daughter!
ha ha, that’s a bit harsh, but yeah…. I might sneakily donate it instead or give to the DOG!
