accuquilt go challenge

I can’t believe it’s been a month already!

Time flies when you’re having fun!!

This month I have Connie be a guest Blogger and show a GO! project also.

She made this cute clam shell pillow!

Have a look at her blog for more pics and info.

The die I wanted to feature this month is the WEDGE!!

A few weeks ago I did a Tutorial Tuesday about Fat Quarters

I had bought this bundle at Connecting threads called spring terrace

199

and I listened to YOUR votes and tried the wedge.

I was able to get 10 wedges from each FQ (I think)

I didn’t have room on my design wall for all of them so I did it in stages

I had the FAT sides touching be the same wedge, so it offset the pairs on the rows.

2014-02-25 003

Then I sewed 2 and 2 together on just the first row and put them back on the wall

2014-02-25 004

Then did 2 and 2 on the 2nd row and 4 and 4 now on the first now

2014-02-26 001

And continued on, so by the 3rd row it was 2 and 2, then 4 and 4 on the 2nd row and 8 and 8 on the 1st row.

2014-02-26 002

I also ALWAYS add a pin on the block or fabric that’s on the RIGHT of the row, so just in case I get it messed up I remember the pin and usually I have 2 pins on just the top row/right side.

But if you do this method and cut the blocks apart one at a time and iron one at a time, they stay in order.

2014-02-26 003

Here’s the top all done it measures 60 x 71

Now I’m not sure if I should trim it straight or leave it AS IS, the corners are not bad so the binding won’t be that hard to attach.

Isn’t the top fun?

2014-03-01 001

I also finally finished the Bowtie Quilt top and border!

I really like it!

2014-02-24 001

And I have a FINISHED project from last month’s scraps leftover from the apple core quilt I made a mini hexagon quilt and finally quilted it and added the binding.

  28. Terry@ a quilting blog

My favorite die is the Go Circle 2", 3" & 5" die. I like that it is so versatile. I'm already a follower and your blog and Connie's blog. Thanks for the giveaway 🙂

  38. Hi Bea,I am a follower and commenter on both yours and Connie's blogs. My fave die that I own right now is the 2" square die. I know that is a little boring, but I am planning to make a scrap quilt, a la Bonnie Hunter, and it requires about 2,000 2" squares…so my square die is a true timesaver! Thanks for the giveaway,Jacqueline in Pitt Meadows

  45. Either the clam shell or the wedge would be great for cutting up my huge amount of scraps.

  46. I am torn between the tumbler die and the apple core die – right now I'm making an Easter table runner using apple core blocks. My first try at curved seams and they're working out pretty well! Thanks for the give away!

  47. I've really liked the tumbler die – but can see how this wedge would really have such modern quilts. I already follow both of you! Thanks for the chance!

  48. Don't have my own Go, but would bribe my sister with this to share hers and all of the dies she has. I want to cut a zillion squares to make an intricate 2-color quilt, but I love the "long lantern" idea with the wedge.
