A year of red and white Quilt Challenge

I was looking at SewCalGal’s blog and realized I never made a quilt to link up for March, so of course I had to play in EQ7 and I played with Quilt layouts which are a ton of fun!

I just used “simple” blocks and inserted into the quilt layouts.

1 First I tried red and white and dark red

red white1

2 Same layout but different block and just red and white

red white2

3 again same layout but different block

red white3

4 now some stars and nine patches

red white4

5 and stars and four patches

red white5

6 opposite colored star and nine patches

red white6

7 and star within a star layout with stars and nine patch blocks

red white7

8 Here was a fun layout!! and just nine patches

red white8

9 then just four patches!

red white9

10 a different layout with just four patches

red white10

11 and then nine patches

Which one do you like?

And I didn’t read if I HAVE to make a quilt from one of these for the next phase? or do whatever I want?

I DO want to make one of these, I’m thinking FPP because those angles would be too tricky to get perfect and I’m also thinking smaller than 30” total, we’ll see.

Ohhhh, pretty! Love them all, but that first one really speaks to me. I really need to learn to use that EQ program. I dont' think I have even opened it up after I loaded it.Bad me! LOL!

My favorite is the last one–so cool! If I read correctly, you don't have to make the same quilt as your designed one. I finally found my EQ5 disc and now have everything updated to EQ7 on my new laptop. Now to find time to play!

I love them all but I think my favorites are the two 4 patches, especially the second one.

  4. These are great. I really want to know how you did #8 because I see units sewn into the quilt that are squares, diamonds, triangles. This intrigues me.

  5. Beautiful quilts Bea and FPP would definitely be the way to go on some of them!
