I got my quilt back from McCall’s on Friday.
It’s featured in McCall’s quick quilts August/September here
It’s called RETRO TULIPS
I made it using Riley Blake fabrics called Serenata here
They are GORGEOUS!! I love the main peacock fabric.
Here’s a link to an article about it
I used EQ7 to design it and found this funky flower block and fussy cut the fabrics for the inner part of the flower.
(I also fussy cut the middle border fabric to have it line up straight
Here’s some other EQ sketches with the same design
but different fabrics/ colors
Riley Blake sent me some extra fabrics to play around with, so I changed the middle of the star blocks and the corner stone squares and swapped the inner and middle border
Here I traced out a part of the flower on the interfacing and lined it up on the fabric
some waste, but not too bad, I saved the scraps
Here are the blocks being constructed and I auditioned different triangles for the center of the star blocks
Flower blocks are done and ironed down
I then button hole stitched all the way around
I also fussy cut the grey sashing
Quilted and bound
I quilted an all over swirly pattern
A star block label on the back.
do you recognize some of the fabrics from other projects??
I’m using them for my ahhhh hexagons
Who wants a signed copy of the magazine??
Comment below and let me know if you’ve worked with any Riley Blake fabrics lately!
(Make sure there’s a way for me to reply to you!! since google+ have changed there’s LOTS of no-reply bloggers now)
I’ll pick a winner Monday July 1st.
Good luck

I love that tulip design. It makes a pretty quilt. I wish I could say that I have used that fabric or actually any fabric lately. We have just moved from Illinois to Alabama and haven't been able to sew for quite a while. First it was packing and now it is unpacking. And the sewing room can't be set up until the new flooring in installed after the week of July 8th. Nancy: rangerer@sbcglobal.net
