A quilt for a friend

Over a year ago my friend Danielle gave me some old quilt magazines that her grandma had after she passed away, they were some cool old magazines!! Anyways, I also found some hand embroidered bird blocks and now I decided to turn them into a small quilt for her for Christmas.

There were 16 blocks so I trimmed them down with room to spare around each one, added a black 1 1/2″ sashing and I think either a 4 1/2″ or 3 1/2″ border around it

I quilted straight lines in black and left the bird blocks alone, there’s stains on some of them but I didn’t want to mess with them.

I gave them to Danielle before Christmas and I think she’s going to re-gift to her mom because her grandma lived with her.

(I’ve given Danielle quilts and other items over the years so it’s totally fine with me!)

I added a hanging sleeve on the back too.

It was Danielle’s beach house we stayed at before Christmas and I did some hand stitching on the way there and back too.

It’s a 3hr drive there so I wanted to do some handwork so I dug into my box of cross stitching and found this, look at the date on the pattern! 1992!! LOL

I did part of this in the car ride and a little bit at the house

Then I worked on this on the way home

and put the last outline stitch in about 20 min from home!

I might make this an ornament, the “kit” came with some lace and a frame but I don’t want to use that, maybe just a small “pillow” as an ornament?!

  1. That was sew sweet making the bird quilt for your friend.
Love the goose. I would still be working on it after 3 hours. I’m not
good at cross stitch. Yours is adorable.

  2. Happy New Year to you and your family!

Love all the recap on quilts and patterns too. My list of quilts to finish and make is growing 🙃 not on Facebook so please keep up the e-mails.
