I’m still in the “mode” of using what I got and this time I dug into some FQS
I wanted to just have a bit of fun and decided to modify my baby stars pattern
Of course I used Accuquilt dies! (6″ and 12″ QUBE sets)
I knew it would be a small table runner, so out of one FQ I was able to cut out the large star and two small ones in green and then in light yellow the background for both.
with a darker yellow I was able to finish the background for the small star blocks as now the light yellow became large stars as well.
Then I quilted it with a new design I saw someone quilt on FB in the QCT group, the design is called “lather rinse repeat” by urban elementz.
I had bought it a while ago, but couldn’t get it to nest right- didn’t want to spend too long messing with it, but with the new QCT5 upgrade there’s something called power panto and WOW! I just used this design and tweaked it a tiny big and it nested beautifully!
The runner measures 12″ x 36″
Another FQ thing I did was to FINALLY try Connie’s fabric basket tutorial
I’ve followed her blog for years (and she’s followed mine too) and whenever she makes a new basket I always comment that I want to make one and I never do! UNTIL NOW!
It’s a great tutorial and here I enclosed the seams like hers but instead of using buttons I used some kam snaps!
My basket ended up tall and skinny, but that’s okay, it was a test and just for fun!
Thanks Connie 🙂
I love star quilts, and this is a fun one. Your quilting is excellent. I once made a fabric basket from that pattern.
Wonderful. I can try any block with the Qubes and scale it down with the other Qubes. That opens up lots of ideas. I hadn’t seen the basket before. It’s cute. Glad you’re getting the hang of panto nesting. Have fun.
Great quilting design, so good to know you are having fun with your new machine.
