Last week on Friday I was invited to Sonja’s class to show what my “career” was… I had seen pics online of other parents and asked if I could come too and show my quilts.
Sonja’s kindergarten teacher also taught Bjorn and Solveig so of course she knew I quilted and I’ve given her little things over the years too
Sonja was a great helper and Anja had fun throwing a fabric ball around to the other kids.
as a little teacher appreciation gift I gave them (Mrs McKee and her T.A) a set of potholders and an eyeglass case
it was short and sweet and I think the kids liked it.
I think it is always good for kids to see that you can actually make things instead of buying them. Many kids today don't have family that makes quilts.
What a great opportunity and sounds like such fun too!
How fun for you and them to see your quilts. Always good to introduce it to them young:)
I cherish those memories – it is so much fun to be able to do this with your kids and their classmates.
What I see as so nice is that the children were able to see that creativity can become a career, just as fixing things, working in an office, etc. Good for you.
What a great idea… on so many levels. The way to make sure crafts and craftsmanship survives is to inspire the kids. 🙂
Such a great idea! We need to get them interested in quilting at an early age!
