Connie at Freemotion by the river, always makes such fun table toppers/runners and they are fast because they are small
As I was looking at them I got in the mood to make some too and they don’t take much fabric and are fast!
So I sketched something out in EQ
(of course using Accuquilt’s 8” QUBE set)
Then I looked at my batik scraps and I changed to orange/brown and then purple too.
I cut out pieces depending on what scraps I had enough of!
here’s the shape #s I used
#2 (8) for the border color A
#4 (12) for background triangle color B (purple)
#5 (12) background small triangles color A
#6 (12 of C and 3 of D) on point squares for blocks
and then the 2 1/2” strip cutter which I cut to 8 1/2” strips (10) for the borders of color D
and 3 strips binding also of the 2 1/2”
After cutting 3 WOF strips for the borders and binding, that determined the color placement.
anyways, here’s my pieces
this is how the blocks are supposed to look
a block like this is sewn together diagonally
and quickly I had 3 blocks done!
and then I added the borders, it’s nice that the border pieces are close in color, so they don’t stand out a lot.
Here’ it is all quilted, since it’s small, it was a fun one to experiment with, I used some of the new Angela walter’s rulers for the borders and some near the center of the block and then a straight ruler for the blocks too and I machine sewed the binding too
I actually used a light brown variegated thread, it’s hard to tell.
It was a fun little project I cut out pieces one night and finished it the next day!
in between projects I’ve been working on the round robins too (I’m in 2 each month) and it’s fun on FB we show teaser pics, here is my teaser of one
and another Guess what it is?
With this round robin we have to use Accuquilt dies!
we had a mini celebration on Swiffer’s birthday, he turned 4 (supposedly) well I had the date and 2014 on my phone, so Sonja put a gift together for him and they opened it together
he got some tangled yarn! ha ha
Did you also see that the Block contest for Accuquilt has started!?
Please vote for me! and you can vote once a day- I don’t think I’ll “push” it as much this year, the final block is still judged by a panel.
Tonight I have friends from Denmark come visit for a few days, so we’ll be busy running around shopping and doing tourist stuff! ha ha
As you know I love table runners, and thanks for the reminder about all of Connie's-she has a few I need to make up!
Lovely table runner! I am now thinking of kit-ing up a few when I get home with my sizzix! Good luck onthe accuquilit challenge. Was thinking of entring but don’t know if I will get to it!
Beautiful table runner Bea and thanks for the shout-out! You know I always have fun making fast and easy quilt projects and like you using the AccuQuilt dies is the best way to go. I can't believe little Swiffer is 4 already!
Great quilting on your table runner.
