A new year means NEW beginnings, right?
I actually “recruited” hubby to help me with this before Christmas, but I’m just showing it now 🙂
remember how I got my new JUKI long arm and 12ft frame in early December
because it was 12ft (plus some) it did FIT in the space but it was really annoying to move around and blocked me a bit when having to reach my shelves with fabrics or my Accuquilt dies.
So I asked Dan to help me as I wanted to “turn” everything 90 degrees
It was quite a project and I realized that the TV had to come down. (It’s okay, the room next to mine has a TV)
My fabric shelf got put in the spot between the windows where the TV was, the long arm over on the right wall and then the long table got moved out and also turned, it really looks AWESOME now!!
I had fun rearranging my fabrics again and this time I didn’t use the red bins for the fabrics but they just sit on the shelves and then the bins have STUFF in them, on the bottom shelf I have long arm rulers and random notebooks and then other fabrics in the last bin, then the top I have one bin with pillows and one with insulbright and one with leftover binding strips instead of an old pretzel jar!
Swiffer seems to like them! I had to move the bins a bit and put a small quilt between two of them so he has something to land on when he jumps from the desk and up!
My desk is less cluttered now with books and things in the bins, I’m facing my shelves with Accuquilt dies and quilts.
Notice I used a shoe rack hanging thing for my stabilizers! I saw that somewhere a while ago and found one in the house that we didn’t use so WHOPTI it’s mine!!
Â
I do have two blue bins over under the fabric shelf and one has small pieces of batting and the other is stuffed to the brim with pincushions! I only have a few on display now, I’ll figure out what to do with them later, but I had them above my ironing board and on two wooden shelves and they just collected SO much dust!
Now I keep the two shelves above my iron for tools I need near there and a few US and DK things, so even though I’ve been a US citizen now for over 2yrs I still have a few things from Denmark 🙂
below the ironing board I still have my storage bins and to the left I have my GO BIG! (and further left is my embroidery machine)
So while I waited to open the box from Michel Miller, I decided to sort thru my bins and plan ahead
here’s what I found (plus more)
a lazy girl Margo bag, fabrics ready, just no motivation!
found hand appliqued blocks, they’ve been in the bin for YEARS! so I was determined to do something with them… wait and see
This birthday pillow just needs to be assembled and maybe add letters?
I already did something with the “L” and the owl block and have a plan for the hexie flower
random Accuquilt shapes cut out, no plan
pictures of our old dog Peanut- I miss him!!
these were BOMs and I stopped after April, no plan
binding strip hexagons, already made a top I’ll show later
hexagon flowers, added a few more already, I need to keep this for long car rides!
I already worked a bit on it (sorry it’s upside down)
leftover Christmas block, already made into a pillow
log cabin scraps, already made a top!
fabric put aside for a smaller version of this pattern
leftover batiks from IB for a small version of this pattern, needs to still cut out
other IB scraps, I did cut out one little project and that’s almost done
Of course I’m totally inspired by organizing and have been sewing some projects, so stay tuned!
Not true Maury!
I think you will love using the Lazy Girl pattern. Her patterns go together so well and her explanations are clear and easy to follow. To quote a commercial “Just do it!”
Your room looks beautiful Bea and much more spacious! We both have the same wire shelves and like you, I have tons of quilts on mine. I will have to pick up a shoe organizer as that is a great way to keep my stabilizers. It was fun to see the projects in your storage containers…..I should go through mine and see what is there! Thanks for a peek at your room again!
You and dan did a great job in your sewing room
That’s a lot of work rearranging everything. It looks great!
I really like how you organized your sewing room for 2020 and beyond. Great job. Looks super creative and cheerful.
What a fun room….it looks great! One day I will have my room back….maybe!!
I love the way you reorganized. It looks so much better, doesn’t it. I reorganize a bit every 2 weeks when the cleaners come, but I have a deep clean closet that needs some real work.
Congratulations on the reorganization. It looks great. I’ve been looking for something to make an ironing station. I like your metal shelves. I think I might consider that.
I love the function of your room. What size is your table? I am about to get my sewing room established and I was debating about having a lot of shelves and drawers near by. I have looked at so many sewing cabinets and I can’t see paying that much money to feel crowded and restricted to one function. I love the cleanliness and orderliness of just the table. My room is only 12 x 13 so I don’t have to go far for any function.
All that cleaning and organizing IS exercise! It all looks nice. I need to re-do my space, but I don’t know what I want to do yet (and don’t really have much space).
