This month’s “theme” for Island Batik ambassadors is “3D”
At first I thought of a quilt that “looked” 3D, like my “Blue lagoon” quilt
Or maybe some sort of 3D element on a quilt, like a pinwheel or a pocket? But instead I decided on something I’ve done in the previous years around this time of year; ORNAMENTS!
Ornament girl, released some new patterns recently that looked like quilt blocks, so I just HAD to have them!!
The one on the left is Ohio Star
And the one on the right is called Kaleidoscope
I made these two out of batik scraps I had leftover from other projects, as I didn’t have many “Christmasy” fabrics, so it was to try something “different” too.
Here they are hanging on my Christmas tree!
As I mentioned above, I’ve made these before and usually I’ve done her basic star pattern, here’s a blue and white one from last year
How about a pink and blue one?
Here I tried a different middle
all blue!
more traditional colors with black and notice I used the IB ribbon to hang it on the tree (I moved it up to take a picture, though it’s still blurry)
These ornaments are so much fun to make, just wear a thimble other your fingers get poked by all the pins!
I love ornament girl!!! That’s what I was thinking about making this month too!
Do it! each ornament turns out so different and great in batiks!
Bea, they are just all so beautiful!!
thanks they are fun!
Love them…..I made one one time and can’t for the life of me remember what happened to it….love yours
thanks, it’s a lot of fun and I love the different patterns!
Beautiful Christmas tree ornaments!
thanks they are fun to make!
These are so pretty! I love how changing the fabrics really changes the look.
thanks, yeah one pattern can look SO different in different fabrics, just like a quilt
The ornaments are so much fun!
