Hi everyone, it’s April 10th and that means block #10 for this blog hop hosted by Carla at Creatin’ in the sticks
I signed up for this hop and picked the chunky pinwheel block
I had a plan of using my 6” QUBE set and then I decided to use this fat eight bundle of Alpine Jingle from Island Batik
It’s a great Christmas bundle with a matching yardage
here’s the rectangle die #8 from the Accuquilt 6” qube set
I quickly figured out a method of folding the fabrics before running them thru the go BIG machine
then I realized I should just keep folding and then cut out the sets this way. I could get 4 sets of 4 from each fat eight.
then I bundles the sets together with a light and a dark
and started sewing
and soon enough I had 30 sets of chunky pinwheel blocks
Since I only had 4 identical blocks in each set and I had to have the blocks be a 6×8 layout, I also paired them together into sets of 8, so two sets of 4 that were similar and then I did a diagonal layout where I alternated the blocks
and I came up with this!
then sewed it together
and then added a border.
The finished top ended up being 42” x 54
and here’s the whole quilt all quilted and bound
I quilted it with Warm and Natural cotton batting
I quilted a pointy loopy all over design, that’s fast and easy!
here’s a picture of the back, I had a christmas print that I just didn’t LOVE and it wasn’t quite wide enough, so I added a green stripe down the middle.

This is one of my favorite charity quilt blocks. Very nice.
Love your quilt top! I have a ton of work to do today BUT I feel the need to put everything on hold and make a few of these blocks. They are perfect for "scrap busting" ! 🙂 Now if I can decide on a background fabric! 🙂 🙂 🙂
Your quilt turned out very nice. Love the batiks.
You turned that block into a beautiful looking quilt…love it, Bea!
It looks greeat and they seem like such fun blocks. I like that you had enough for a beautiful quilt – way to go!
Great job! It's a Christmas feeling quilt, without all the regular Christmas images. Very nice!
A great quilt that puts you ahead of the Christmas rush!
Your quilt is lovely. I like that it does not scream "Christmas" so it can be used more frequently.Thank you for sharing.
placing a backing with something that doesn't sing to you still gives an extra special touch to a quilt as opposed to a white or off white cut of fabric~ Very nice
Turned out great. Clever folding to get the maximum use from your fat qtrs. Thanks for sharing.
Nice quilt. Love the fabric you used.
Beautiful quilt, fabrics and design…you made it look SEW easy!
I keep meaning to do a quilt like this so thanks for urging me on.
Your fabric choice and quilt layout work well. I like not-quite-traditional Christmas colors, and this fabric collection in batiks is not-quite-traditional. Another visual impression I see when I look at your quilt is looking up from underneath an old fashioned tree stand, with the trees showing around the edges.
Very nice quilt, the colors are so fun!
Looks like a Xmas quilt but it can be used year round. Love the batiks.
Beautiful version….love it!!!
Great quilt! I like the way the pinwheels are everywhere you look. I am thinking about an Accuquilt but haven't taken the plunge yet…
Your batik quilt is great! I love the colors.nikilsend(at)outlook(dot)com
Beautiful! A pretty scrappy quilt that comes together fast is a win in my book.
Very pretty. I have to admit when I first saw the quilt, I thought it was a king size. Now I see you made the blocks smaller. Clever for a smaller version of the block. Thank you for joining us in the 30 Quilt Blocks in 30 Days Blog Hop. Great post and gorgeous quilt, Bea.
That's really nice! Great way to use the fabric!
Wow, Bea – I love the way your quilt turned out, and I love this block, not to mention those great batiks!! It's so Christmasy!! I love blocks that can be cut with my AccuQuilt Go Big!! Thanks for sharing!
That looks fabulous and is in my favorite colors. Super block!
Merry Christmas!
I like the batiks you used. Great easy pattern.
I love the fabric combination that you used for this dynamic quilt! Thanks for sharing this!
That is beautiful, and I love the layout! Great thinking.
I love seeing your Christmas batiks made into a full quilt. You've convinced me of how great it can look, and how "Christmas-y"!
Great quilt! These blocks make for a quick, easy, and fun quilt.
So festive! I like it. Thank you.
