The only news we got about Dan this week was from the prostate biopsy and doesn’t look good at all.

Prostate cells are rated on a gleason score and a gleason group, a score is between 3-10 and the group is 1-5… most of his scores were 8 and 9 a few were 7, and the groups were 4 and 5, so that means very aggressive cancer cells that are most likely to spread! So the next thing is to actually talk to oncologist(s) and get a full body PET scan to see where it has spread, other than the lymph nodes near the prostate/bladder, which we already know about and that already put him in stage 4!

The nurse we talked to thought the oncologist would probably have Dan take hormones to remove testosterone and maybe also chemo pills, but that’s up to the doctor and us to talk about. I think Dan is coming around to taking the hormone pills, there’s really not many other choices, I’d rather have no sex life and a LIVE husband than still no sex life and a dead husband sooner….it’s so sad and morbid. we’ll keep praying for the right guidance and direction.

I try to sew/quilt a bit, instead of moping around, music or TV doesn’t really work because I’m still “thinking” but I think an audiobook works, I have finished two Percy Jackson books, which Sonja was reading but I listened to instead, very “teen” books but still fun- if you like teen fantasy mixed with greek mythology! Give me a good mystery crime book or a romantic Amish book- probably can’t listen to romantic ones these days, so a good murder mystery is probably more my thing these days or historical fiction, those are always fun too!
