Well….
Dan got the PET scan done and the results came back on “myChart” that evening and it was NOT good news!!
The cancer has spread to the bones, his whole skeleton/spine and especially pelvic area, plus in the whole pelvic region PLUS the lungs!!
I expected the lungs but from googling things IT was supposed to spread to the bones first after leaving the prostate (and lymph nodes) he hasn’t really had bone or pelvic pain, very minor and only once in a while, so I think it’s because he goes to the gym several times a week and does weight and strength training, so he’s protected his bones/ masked the symptoms? It’s all very odd.
The lungs showed a “innumerable foci of metastatic disease throughout” that surely sounds really bad! I suspected it too because his slight cough is more frequent now, nothing sounding like phlegm or painful but just a slight “ahem almost” kind of cough, but he’s never had that before….
He does pee every hour now and even thru the night.
I’m trying to call the cancer hospital and get him in earlier than the 17th, but we’ll see…. I don’t even know if there’s anything they can do other than prolong death!
We’ll see what they say, but it’s all so surreal, not that we’re in denial but it’s so much to take in, we’re almost numb to it……
This quilt was at the UNC cancer hospital, it made me pause and snap a quick picture
Last weekend Sonja went to a Jane Austen dance with her friend and they had a blast!

Sending thoughts and prayers to you and your family .
I don’t comment on blogs much. Your post is just heartbreaking. I’m so sorry for you and your husband. I wish there was something I could do, and I will be praying for you. If anything I hope his story urges everyone to see the doctor once a year. Hugs to you and your beautiful family.
I am so sorry, Bea. That news has to be very hard to process. I am keeping you and Dan in my prayers.
Your have a lot of great projects going on – a few of them I might have to push you to finish for me to see haha!
And your daughter and her dress – so lovely!!!
I am sending lots of prayers, good thoughts and hugs your way. This is so hard to process .
I don’t know what your religious beliefs are and it doesn’t really matter, but I will definitely be praying for healing and comfort. Having a spouse with cancer is hard and scary, and the news you received certainly doesn’t make it any easier. (My husband had prostate cancer in 2019 and I had colon cancer in 2023.) The best thing you can do is love each other through it.
Thanks, I appreciate the prayers 🙂
We’re Christians!
