What a week, my in laws are not doing well at all.
Grandma is near the end for sure, she hasn’t eaten or drank anything since last Sunday, she can’t sit up in bed or get out of it, she isn’t even whining or crying anymore, no sounds at all except maybe a slight murmur! We’re in the process of transferring her to a local hospice house instead of dying at home in their house. Grandpa is worse too, he’s eating ok, but the dementia is so bad, he can hardly walk and now this week when he sleeps he’s sort of reaching for something in the air, it’s odd and might be a symptom of the end too.
Last weekend he would sit and watch her thru her bedroom doorway (they sleep different places) and this week he’s not even aware of his wife or anything.
It’s been a stressful week to say the least, we are trying to do normal stuff around the house just to keep our minds off of the obvious!
Mid week Solveig came home from college too for a few hours, she also called us a few hours before that crying, she’s usually a strong non-emotional girl, but the thought of the future and adulthood has been on her mind a lot, she’s a senior but yet only 19! so she feels the pressure of doing a master’s but not sure she likes psychology, though she loves school! She’s not sure what kind of work she wants to do after graduation, I know it’s frustrating and scary and we tell her she’s smart and she’ll figure it out and it’s ok to not know….Most people switch careers several times, some go back to school later too. We encourage her to pray about it and the Lord will help her find her calling 🙂
