2024 quilt project list week 31 I think

Another busy few weeks! I totally forgot to post this list last weekend.

We are sort of in a groove now my my in-laws. The CNA we hired is there from either Monday thru Friday or Tuesday thru Friday, then my husband goes over Friday at 5 and stays until Monday morning.

We’ve toured 2 different Assisted Living places with memory units. I don’t think Grandma would qualify for assisted living but grandpa would probably. Two local places were TOTALLY different, so I think we have a plan for now, but so far they stay at their house unless Grandma needs to go to a nursing home or worse.

It’s such a sucky situation to be in, waiting for a person to die and seeing family members in such bad shape. Grandpa’s dementia is so bad. One night he woke up and peed in a coffee cup and dumped it in the kitchen sink- before the CNA woke up to help him into the bathroom with his walker, he had also gotten out frozen peas and dumped the bag on the floor! They both have walkers now AND call buttons but forgets to use them! Grandma one night when Dan was there, she got up and cut and toasted a bagel TWICE then gobbed on peanut butter, got out some bacon then put it in the freezer, then fell but Dan caught her! They have to be watched 24/7 and are bad in their own way. I really don’t think this will keep going for long, but we’ll see, we’re sort of just doing it a day or week at a time! It’s all very sad.

For some GOOD NEWS, Bjorn has now been with Deutsche Bank for a year in the grad program and the program puts the grads in 2 different teams, 6 months at a time, and he really LOVED his last team and wanted to stay there, and his manager really like him too (and the other grad that was there- a girl) but supposedly the team only had room for ONE grad for permanent placement, the manager said he liked both of them but it was up to HR, then finally they both found out that they BOTH got final placement with this team, so both super happy! So we made a little cake for Bjorn to celebrate! His team is “historical market analytics” whatever that means. It’s computer programming for internal things I think and by “historical” even 30 seconds is OLD when it comes to the market… LOL

Sonja has been learning to crochet, of course picking pretty complicated patterns then “winging” it with certain things, this was supposed to be a hat but her tension or stitches were too big so it didn’t fit, so instead she turned it into a bag! Pretty clever!! (I made the pockets for her)

Dan and I had a chance to do a DATE night this week too and went out for sushi.

And Swiffer had fish too for his 10th birthday this week!

We try to keep family life “normal” with all the stuff going on, I try to get some sewing done when I can but often I’m too tired to think or I need to make phone calls for different things, so I often end up on the computer playing games. I did finish an audio book recently.

“The coworker” is about an autistic/asperger woman in an office environment, with of course a “perfect” female coworker who’s also a bully, then the autistic woman goes missing one day…..A very good book with a great plot twist.

May I suggest a motion sensor for your in-laws home. This sensor would alert the helping person to know that there is activity from either one of the in-laws.
This worked very well for me when I had family member getting up and about that truly was in need of assistance.
    Thoughts and prayers continue.

  2. My heart breaks about your in- law situation. Do whatever you can for them now, you’ll be glad you did when they’re gone. Praying for you.

    1. Thank you, yesterday my mother in law called me and asked about medicine I said my husband is there (I said his name) and she had no idea who he was and asked him his name.
