This week Dan prepped and stained the hardwood floor section in our kitchen where the old cabinets were and the wood was just bare.
We knew that if you add NEW hardwood floors up against an OLD floor you have to “feather” the boards in, so we figured stained was the same method, so he spent a whole day taping the edges of boards and then sanding it with different grits of sandpaper.
Then he stained it and this is the result! not IDEAL and I’m really surprised there’s such a stark difference between the new and old. Now he wants to put a rug on the spot in front of the sink so it hides it… we know that the stain/oil darkens over time.
Last Friday I had to take my mother in-law to the hospital, she had difficulty breathing and walking (she has a pacemaker and is 93!) they did all sorts of tests and sent us home saying it was a virus and to check with regular doctor later, we were at the hospital for 7hrs I think. Then Monday she had a cardiologist appointment and the doctor wasn’t too concerned, other than suggesting we get home health help, we had another appointment Thursday as well with the regular doctor, and it seems that the days in-between, there’s something else going on, so we both go over there and do whatever we need to do, if it’s appointment, then Dan sits with his dad and I take his mom to the appointment, I’m so glad that Solveig is here to watch the girls and that we homeschool so we have the flexibility of stopping and going at a moment’s notice. I guess my mother in-law just has to realize that she’s weak, in heart failure that will never get better and she’s 93! but otherwise in good shape, so just take it easy!
