2023 Quilt Project week 6

What a busy week it’s been!

I’ll start with the happy stuff first, last weekend hubby and I trimmed our two apple trees- fun right??

a cute little fun thing for the girls was this Art project, where they had to make a boat scene to sort of copy the artwork out of construction paper.

and we read this FUN poem this week.

Bjorn has been interviewing both in person and on Zoom for different jobs, so hopefully he’ll land something soon!

now to the not so fun part, we had to also take Chewy to the UrgentVet this week, just because our vet still can’t see anyone until April and last week I had such a nice experience so I figured I’d go again. Chewy’s toenails had gotten too long and often she jumps on the fence in our backyard (see picture of the trees) and talks to the neighbor’s dog, well I think over time the nails got stuck and lifted up from the quick, we knew she was in pain and I had nail clippers but she wouldn’t even let me go near her, she’s yelp and run away and hide, so we took her up there (after I had emailed them and asked about it) She ended up being sedated and they filed and cut down the nails and trimmed the fur PLUS they had to rip out 3 or 4 nails as they would have come off painfully anyways and had become infected, so she got sent home with bandaged feet and pain meds and antibiotics!

Then after two days we were supposed to take the bandages off and put on the cone of shame, it was too small, she still licked her toes! We tried to add foam or other things around but she was miserable!

So now we have taped socks to her paws and she doesn’t seem to mind it, we’ll check on her toes and see if she’s able to keep the socks off for a while or if she’ll lick them and make them bleed as some only have the quick showing and are very sensitive, poor girl!

What’s really upsetting her, is that she can’t go on walks and only gets limited time in the backyard!

And I feel like the worst pet parent!! two pets on antibiotics!! and all this because I didn’t trim her nails!! I’ll keep up with them now or take her to the groomer regularly!

  1. So sorry for Chewy, but you are not the only adult in the house, so don’t blame yourself so much. 😉 Bjorn looks so handsome, hope he lands a job soon. And wow! You get so much done in a week!!! We bought a new saw yesterday to do some tree trimming, I am afraid that I will be helping hubby too. Have a great weekend!!

  2. Shelly Gische

Shel Silverstein was one of my daughter’s favorite authors. Enjoy.

  3. My dog does not like her nails trimmed, and this is a great reminder to me to keep trying. I hope your dog feels better soon and your son finds the job of his dreams.
