2023 quilt project list week 28

I’m still home alone with the girls, my husband and Solveig are in London with Bjorn, before Bjorn starts his training with Deutsche Bank over there, he’ll come home next Saturday.

We’ve seen a few pictures and chatted already and they have seen lots of stuff and had a great time! The most amazing thing happened on the way over…..

So they all left Monday, because Bjorn booked his flight 2 months ago thru his company he got a direct flight from RDU to London, then hubby applied for a new passport and JUST got it a week before Bjorn’s trip, so he quickly booked tickets for him and Solveig to go, but the direct flight was too much $, so instead they’d fly over Boston and have 1.5hr layover with JetBlue, they would all arrive in London about 15 min apart but leave here at different times on Monday, but I drove them all to the airport Monday around noon, the Boston flight would leave at 3.30 and the direct flight at 6, so Bjorn would just have to hang out longer at the airport. By the time I got back home from dropping them off Bjorn texted that the Boston flight was a hour delayed and Dan had to go out to the front of the airport to rebook because they might not make the next flight, even though if was supposedly 5 gates away (but that can always change last minute) he was super stressed! He hasn’t been out of the country since my mom got married and when we got married, so both trips to Denmark and I was the one who knew how to deal with this kind of stuff! the lady at the customer service desk said they would still make it, to go back thru TSA and talk to the gate people and see if they could get a seat near the front of the plane, so back to the gate and super stressed, meanwhile I’m getting the text updates and feel the stress too. At the gate Dan walked up and said he was super stressed thinking they’d get stuck in Boston, the lady looked on her computer and asked if they would like to fly directly to London instead? Yes… the one leaving at 6pm? yes, the one that Bjorn was on!!! so they got two seats there and they lucked out and got extra legroom too! Praise God! I was so happy for them I cried!! They arrived safely early Tuesday morning (which was more like 2am US time and they got their hotel room and still did stuff until maybe 7pm that night before they fell asleep) Dan and Solveig will come home Tuesday! then we’re going to the beach for 3 days- something that was booked months ago!! then a week home and Solveig starts online class at Meredith and she moves in mid August, plus Sonja and Bjorn has a birthday in August, Bjorn is turning 21! so lots of stuff going on this summer!!

  1. Traveling is so stressful. I am glad everyone arrived safely and the flights worked out so nicely.

  2. That was definitely a God miracle for your family to all get on the same flight! How wonderful! I’m thrilled they are having a great time, and then will come home to more family fun while Bjorn gets his initial introduction to the new working conditions. So many wonderful changes for all of your family with Solveig starting her journey of education, too. Life is changing, but still so good! Still loving Strawberry fields in the dark patterns.
