This week I got a new bookshelf for upstairs (it’s really 3) From IKEA, we thought we’d drive to Charlotte to get them but then when comparing the delivery cost with the gas, meals and taking a day off from work, it just made more sense to get it delivered- plus there’s always impulse buys too! – But it’s SO fun to go to IKEA!! ah well, another day.
We have this walkout attic/storage/my old craft room/whatever room and with homeschool books and just other junk, I really wanted the shelves there and I had tons of old scrapbooks from before I started quilting and the albums were stacked sideways and not very organized, so I put those on the bottom and got other books out and homeschool books and binders. I really thought I had a lot more books, but I guess we didn’t- that’s ok, we’ll fill up the shelves soon enough!
I flipped thru some of the albums and found this of Bjorn
I don’t know if you knew that Bjorn has a speech delay/developmental delay early on, he wasn’t talking at 2 and only babbling at 3 and psychologists and whatever specialists said he had a low IQ and the state put him in free preschool until he was 5, then because he had an August birthday, the HIGHLY recommended we’d put him in private preschool because they felt he was not ready for Kindergarten, but we couldn’t afford that and he started school with an IEP plan and had special Ed for several years, by 3rd or 4th grade he was “fine” and they exited him out of special Ed. and then put him in the “gifted” class for Math!
and look at him now, he did early college and graduated with his bachelor’s at 20 years old in MATH and BUSINESS and now lives on his own and has a great job!
Another “goodie” from the shelf was a cookbook from my mother-in-law, she’s told me she got it when she got married

There was also a section about table setting
and what to feed the young child- nothing about chicken nuggets and french fries!!
Last weekend Dan bought an old drum set from someone at church, it hooks up to headphones, but you still hear the light tapping.
A young couple at our church had a baby girl and I texted her two quilt pictures and told her to pick one for the baby and she picked the pink and grey one- mom is from South or Central America, I think Bolivia, so I wasn’t sure if she’d like the tropical colors more, but she picked girly colors 🙂
Anja learned about soil corrosion and how trees prevent that- in science this week, the experiment SORT OF worked, but she just liked the water and sand/soil part of it.
I’ve finished 2 audio books too recently
The Windsor knot was ok, a bit confusing, about Queen Elizabeth solving a murder (secretly) in recent years- of course fictional!
And Wonder Years was interesting about the Plague in 1666 (I think) in England and how they dealt with only having 1/3 of the people left at the end, the superstitious and odd things people did to avoid the plague, I think it’s the author narrating it and she’s reading it so somberly and sadly, it’s really chilling!
I also dropped off some eyeglass cases at the Emporium this week
Plus two trips with my in-laws this week too, I’m kind of exhausted this week!
And Sonja was sick most of this week (just a cold but still, not much school for her, she was just resting a lot!
