Last Sunday was Bjorn’s birthday, but he left for college the Tuesday before, so we just called and texted him and sang happy birthday to him, later he sent a video of his roommates having a cake for him.
Last Sunday hubby and I spent the afternoon after church installing a new dishwasher, ours was not totally broken, but we had bought a “scratch and dent” one at Lowes months ago for an AWESOME deal so it was finally time to install it! (and the dent was slight on the top part which you can’t see and under the batting and didn’t hinder any function.
It’s SUPER quiet!!
and it got a silverware rack on top which we are getting used to.
we’ve finished up week 3 of the Sonlight schedule, one read-aloud book for Anja was Mrs. Piggle Wiggle- I didn’t like it, it was just odd, the other book was for Sonja called the great Turkey walk and that one was cute and fun! Whenever the characters in the book have an accent or words are spelling differently, I try to sound like that accent, or give a younger voice to a kid or a high pitched voice for a girl.
The only non-sonlight thing I bought for this year was this little card deck of artists, it shows one famous painting by an artist and has a little information on the back of it.
The first card was “Arnolfini Portrait” by Jan van Eyck,
here I had the girls draw a copy of it with markers.
My idea is to try a different art technique for each card, we’ll see if I can come up with 30!
