This week’s block is Illinois
It’s a block I really LIKE a lot and last year I made a table runner with this block
The block this week is still 12″ finished and uses the 8″ QUBE set, dies #3,4,5,6
With Red Cut a 5.5″ WOF and die shape #4 cut (16) triangles, you’ll need (8) for this block, save the rest for later — 5 1/4″ square cut diagonally TWICE
With Dark Red cut a 5 1/4″ WOF strip and with die shape #3 cut (12) triangles, you’ll need (4) for this block, save the rest for later– 4 7/8″ square cut diagonally
With Dark Blue cut 5 1/4″ WOF strip and with die shape #3 again cut (11) triangles (you’ll cut 12 but don’t need that that extra one) save (4) for this block, save the rest for later– 4 7/8″ square cut diagonally
With dark Blue scrap and die shape #6, cut (2) squares, save (1) for this block and save the other for later. — 3 3/8″ square
You’ll also need (4) white #5 triangles already cut –2 7/8″ square cut diagonally
and (16) light blue #5 triangles already cut as well –2 7/8″ square cut diagonally
Sew (4) large HSTs together from dark red and dark blue, then (8) flying geese from red #4 triangles and light blue small triangles and then a diamond block from a dark blue #6 center and white small triangles.
Now sew flying geese together stacked like this
and then it’s easy to put the block together!

The ice cream “sundae” was named in Evanston. Ingenious confectioners and drug store operators obeying the law, served ice cream with the syrup of your choice without the soda. Objections then was made to christening a dish after the Sabbath. So the spelling of “sunday” was changed. It became an established dish and an established word and finally the “sundae”.

Bumming Around The last thing you want to be called is a bum, so keep your wallet loaded until you leave this state. Those caught without a dollar in pocket are found guilty of the crime of vagrancy. No, pennies don’t count! Dollar bills only, but at least you only need one to avoid the label.
Steer Clear Whether you’re coming into town by truck or motor home, make sure to keep the steering wheel firmly attached during your travels. Vehicles without this accessory are completely illegal.
Reservations Required While you’re putting the steering wheel back on your vehicle, make sure to call up the city as you approach and let them know what you are driving in. There is a law in one city that requires automobile drivers to call the police before driving in.
