We’re half way thru the QAL!! and now it’s time to get out the 6″ QUBE set as all the blocks from now on will be 6″ finished
The first block is Louisiana
It’s an easy block and uses dies #4,5,8 from the 6″ QUBE set (I’ve actually used this block in one of my patterns too!)
As before, I am going to give you directions to cut out all the pieces for the rest of the quilt with that fabric and die so it reduces the fabric waste. Rotary cutting is also included.
With white and die #5 cut (2)-5″ WOF strips and cut out 80 HSTs, set aside 8 for this block. (2 3/8″ squares cut diagonally)
With red and die #4 cut a 4 3/4″ WOF and cut out 20 QSTs and save 4 for this block (4 1/4″ squares cut diagonally TWICE)
With dark blue and die #8, cut out a 4 1/2″ WOF and cut out 8 rectangles and save 4 for this block (2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles)
make 4 flying geese with the red large triangles and 8 white small HSTs like this and press the seams OPEN!
Then add the dark blue rectangle above the flying geese
and sew the block together
If your spinning is going the other way, that’s okay, no one will know đ

Bad Bananas
Bananas are healthy for you, but they arenât a popular fruit in Louisiana. Youâll need a good banana hat to conceal this yellow fruit, since the state makes it illegal to carry in public.
Gargle at Home
It is also against the law to gargle while you are in public. Unfortunately, there is no hat that can hide the swishing inside your mouth.
The next block is Minnesota
a super easy block too with die #4 and red and light blue
The red was already cut earlier so grab 8 of those
With light blue and die #4 cut a 4 3/4″ WOF strips and cut out (16) QSTs, save 8 for this block (4 1/4″ squares cut diagonally TWICE)
Sew the blocks together like this
the completed block looks like this, again it doesn’t matter if you have the QSTs flipped.
