2020 Project list week 25

My 4 secret quilts for Accuquilt are done and in their hands already. I sent them on their way before we went on a small mini vacation to Topsail beach, NC, my friend has a GORGEOUS beach house out there, with a view two ways, one to the ocean and one to the bay/wildlife area, it was really neat!

We left Sunday and stayed two nights, unfortunately the forecast was thunder and rain all the time, but Sunday it was cloudy and a few showers so we spent the afternoon on the beach and the kids built a sandcastle (remnants were there Monday too)

it’s not a very touristy area and most places were closed, so on the way there we saw a Publix and ordered a sushi tray for dinner and it was pretty good!

Monday morning we let the big kids sleep a bit and Dan and I took Anja for a walk on the beach and she discovered the joy of collecting seashells!

We went to a recommended coffee shop for treats, they had bacon donuts! YUM!!

I also have to tell you a little sewing machine debacle!

So after the monster striped quilt, I felt like my Janome needed to go to the spa for a good cleaning! So I dropped it off at Capital Sew & Quilt. (which is where I’ve taught classes and who I bought my long arm at too)

So I used my purple Janome that’s my backup and one that my friend Laura used when she’d come and sew and now Solveig has been using lately too. Well not TWO days later, did it break! I would wind a bobbin and click the winder back but the display was still showing that it would wind, I COULD actually sew, but couldn’t change anything…..

So I busted out my backup to the backup, a Singer machine I got at Costco several years ago, it’s a piece of junk but DOES sew…. I finished the Accuquilt projects and then I went in my car back to the shop with the purple Janome and even asked if they had a loaner machine, because there was no way I was sewing on the Singer for two weeks or however long it would take to fix, but it was just some loose screws and they fixed it on the spot and I took it back home and was a happy camper- still missing my red Janome, but it sews just fine- I did miss my knee lift.

So yesterday they called that the machine was ready, Dan said he would pick it up- though I had just talked to them about coming by next week to show then QCT5! so he picked it up and guess what!

This JUKI just HAPPEN to get itself into the back of my husband’s car!!

Now I need to test drive it, it’s a no frills work horse!!

I’ll keep my red Janome on my table on the other side so I can do applique etc. Solveig already asked if she could have the purple Janome!

What a guy I’m married to!! He knows a way to my heart….. and yeah he’s banned from going back to the store 😉 or maybe I should send him more often?? lol

 

Today we’re having a back yard graduation party for Bjorn, I’ll blog about that later 🙂
